How to Manually Import Your Posts to Triberr

by Nicole Cook

Occasionally posts don’t import to Triberr for several hours, and some of us are impatient and want them to be there immediately.

If you use the wordpress plugin, this won’t be a problem, but if not or you’re not on wordpress you might find an occasion where you want to manually import your posts in. Here’s how to do that.

Start by going to your Triberr Settings which are up in the right corner of the page.

Then you will need to go to Blog Settings.

Once you’re in Blog Settings, next to your RSS Feed you will need to click Manually Import.

For a minute it will Parse the Feed as it is checking your RSS feed for any new posts.

Once it is finished there are several things that can happen.

Scenario 1: If there are NO new posts, you will get a list of blog posts like below and underneath them it will say “This link already exists in the database

Scenario 2: It will find a New Post but as you can see from the photo below it is older than a week ago so it won’t import it because it won’t import posts that are more than a week old.

Scenario 3: It will import a brand new post. You will give it a short period of time and you will start to see tribemates tweeting it out on twitter.

Hope this guide helped!

Hi Nicole!

Question – I deleted an imported post as I noticed there was a typo in the heading. I now cant re-import it, is there a way to re-import?

Nope, unfortunately there is not a way to import the post again. In the future, if its a small error that can be adjusted by editing, just edit the post in your stream. You can repair it on your blog too, but this will keep the post at least going out.

Hi Nicole, I just signed up yesterday and I can’t get to my settings. Everytime I hit settings I get a page that says: Masters of Words does not have a Twitter Account assigned. Help, please. Gale

Hi Gale, welcome to triberr. Your error message is actually telling you what the problem is. You have not assigned your twitter account to the tribe “Masters of Words” – and until you do, it won’t all you to do anything else. Click on the error (its a clickable link) and it should take you to the location where you can input your twitter id (its a drop down box). IF you are still having problems, follow this post: http://alltriberr.com/how-to-assign-your-twitter-rss-feed-to-your-tribes/

I followed your instructions above, but I don’t see any of those screens or options. I keep getting an error message that tribe not linked to twitter account. Unfortunately, I can’t get into blog settings.

Well, you won’t need to manually import your posts into Triberr. What you need to do is what the error message is telling you to do – connect your twitter account and that message will go away. The post on how to that is here: http://alltriberr.com/how-to-assign-your-twitter-rss-feed-to-your-tribes/
Let me know if you still need help after that.

Can you import older posts at all?

At this point no. I don’t think they have any immediate plans to implement that either, as it wouldn’t be fair – some people have more old posts than others and it would be quite cumbersome on the servers. You can create a Dynamic tweet and do it that way – that’s what that is for, actually. It does cost bones however.

In my ‘My Posts’ stream I have one that is labelled with a status of ‘new’ (still after 9hrs) and it hasn’t appeared in the Tribal stream yet:
- will it eventually?
- what has caused the delay?
- what can I do to encourage it?
Thanks!

Usually if a post is “new” for that long, it usually indicates that the feed isn’t assigned to a tribe. How many tribes are you in?
Did it ever finally go out? Sometimes there is a long delay if the server had an error earlier and it is playing catch up. Since this is about a week old, there was a day last week where there were some issues, so it would have taken a longer time to go out. Let me know if this is still a concern, and we can look into why that happened.

Thanks Nicole and sorry for delay in responding!

The post did eventually go out – as you say, no doubt a “server delay”

The irregularity in the time between posting the RSS feed and the message going into the tribal stream is frustrating at times as we try to get our timing right in terms of “time zones”. I guess there is little that can be done with this due to the “system”

Thanks again >R
